The successful renovation took an existing structure, maintained the desirable elements, and re-purposed it. Within six months of opening the Mansell facility, AHS had nearly doubled the number of total adoptions for the organization and recruited volunteers from the surrounding area.
We have saved the lives of so many animals, made their environment more comfortable, and presented dogs and cats to the public in a pleasing manner that encouraged adoptions. Challenge In an effort to extend services to a larger area, Atlanta Humane Society engaged Bacon Group Architects for a second project to evaluate an existing building in the Alpharetta business district. Results Bacon Group Architects demonstrated that the location and distinct advantages of the existing building had the potential to create a blockbuster adoption center.

There have been times where I go in and been hissed at for walking to close or they run and hide. Other than that this facility is good. Jeanie S. Alexis N. I got my darling baby kitty, Joni, from here.
The process was great, the after care was purrfect. Thank you! Keith F. I want to take so many of these dogs home. I like to stop in and pet the puppies. This location is very clean with plenty of room for the animals. They have an outside area as well. The staff is friendly. Highly recommended. Christina N. This is for the clinic. I was really excited to get my pet neutered at a low cost.
After making the appointment and showing up I was turned away by a vet tech. My dog is superhealthy five months old and a perfect candidate for neutering. However he has an undescended testicle. This is very upsetting I had spent two hours already for this was there at 7 AM and had to go get cash because they told me that they only took cash.
After this I emailed the Humane Society and they said they would happily do the surgery for the same cost and they would tell the clinic to do it. We have decided to go elsewhere although it is more money at least we know our pup will be taken care of.
Hollis A. This facility is absolutely state of the art. I have adopted once and I go every so often just to browse. When I adopted I had a particularly unpleasant young woman who all but asked for my financial portfolio. I understand they want to make sure people can afford an animal but she was getting inappropriately personal! It was kind of weird and rubbed me the wrong way. Her name was Katie.
Other than that — this is the standard for humane societies. Truly a marvelous facility. June C. I am writing this review as an update of my current review. I have been to the Atlanta Humane Society on multiple different occasions to see all of the dogs and all of the puppies there since the beginning of this year. When I and my brother had made our first original decision… my brother and I chose Gigi a beautiful red shepherd blend.
Unfortunately, Gigi did not workout at all and my own brother and I had to return her back to to the Atlanta Humane Society. She turned out to be too much of a liability for myself and my own brother. She is not friendly with other dogs at all and my own brother and I have learned that when him or myself would take her for and on walks. Before returning Gigi back to the Atlanta Humane Society. I had gone back to the Atlanta Humane Society. The staff there were kind and gracious enough to allow me to go all the way back into the back of their own facility and take a look at all of the other dogs and puppies that they had available over there again.
As I was over there browsing and looking, I saw several wonderful and excellent options. I originally saw Kiera on their website prior to going back over to the Atlanta Humane Society and meeting her in person.
When I met her in person and spent time with her in person, she was all that I had imagined her to be as well as a lot more. Before making my final decision on her Kiera , I have been considering and looking at one other dog, a very beautiful and personable Boxer mix named Duke. I too saw him on their website prior as well.
When I saw him on their website, it truly was love at first sight. However, I was absolutely torn between getting him or getting Kiera. But, my own family were set on having only female dogs. So, that is when I had made my own ultimate decision and chose Kiera. I do believe and think that I have truly made the right decision for not only myself, but my own family as well. When I brought Kiera back to her new forever home for the first time, she sniffed around my whole entire house.
She has been with me since May 22 nd , and I cannot be happier with her. I thought that was wonderful of them to do that. This tells me that they care a lot.
I am just super happy that she is my dog now. As from a previous adoption, I knew their policy was that she had to go see a vet within five business days after the day of adoption. On Tuesday May 27 th , , I had taken Kiera over there VCA Roswell Animal Hospital for the recommended free examination that had to be done within the first five days after adoption. This was completely understandable. I cannot thank the Atlanta Humane Society enough for adopting Kiera out to me.
I am so glad that they adopted Kiera out to me. Kiera is my whole world and I will do anything and everything to make sure that she is always happy, always well loved, and always healthy. I love her dearly. The Atlanta Humane Society truly is absolutely the best place to find a new furry companion.
I will always highly recommend the Atlanta Humane Society to all who are looking to adopt a new dog, puppy, cat, or kitten into their lives and their home. Cathy W. I was picturing a different location maybe a previous one?
At first I thought it was strange, but when we went inside I was so impressed. Talk about gorgeous. This place is really incredible. They have a great staff that welcomes you at the front desk. We were astounded by the cat area— so awesome. Everything was open and the cats can run around and climb and lounge. No cages, and it was awesome. There are no smells in this place.
We walked around and someone came to help us immediately. We had wanted to look at one dog, but after meeting her, we decided she was a bit too reserved for our boys and our other dog. We told the volunteer what we were looking for in a dog, and he showed us a few different dogs. We found one that we liked and decided to go outside with him and our dog. They have these giant fenced in areas that you can take the dogs to and they run and play.
It was really spectacular. Our dog liked the potential dog and our boys liked him too, so we decided to see about adopting him. We headed back inside and were able to meet in a private room, and talked to the adoption lady and we were approved! It was so wonderful. Bottom line, this is the place to go to adopt a pet.
John S. There are rooms for cats to run free. Caged areas. You can take a dog for a walk. We rescued a cat. Allene T. This place is huge, clean, lots of light, and nice high ceilings. I came in just to play with the dogs and take a look — they actually love when people come in just to give these sweet things a little company.
All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I also saw a place outside where dogs are taken to play, train, or take on walks. The puppies were ridiculously cute. Taylor R. The staff here was friendly and helpful and the adoption was so quick. Mary Margaret B. My boyfriend and I wanted a dog but not a puppy. We really wanted to rescue an animal that deserved a good home regardless of age.
So we started from the back to work our way to the front and look at all the doggies.
